    Tibetan Calligraphy is, as other calligraphy, is the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner.
Tibetan language is a phonetic writing system. There are 30 consonant letters and 4 vowel letters. The art of calligraphy of Tibetan writing started in Shangshung with Takzik Punyig (Persian Style Writing), it never stopped development, when Thomi Sambhota standardized Tibetan language in 7th Century, there had already been Uchan, Umed, Druma, Chukyik and other major styles.
